This muscle may be joined with the transverse perinei superficialis.
This muscle may be composed of two laminae and may be continuous with the superior constrictor. Syn.: Backenmuskel, Trompetermuskel
A slip of muscle arising from the body of the hyoid bone and inserting on the dorsum of the tongue is named basioglossus. See Hyoglossus .
Occasionally a small medial slip arises from the pharyngeal tubercle of the occipital bone and inserts on the raphe or posterior wall of the pharynx.
The most constant of the usual three ear muscles is the superior. Connections between the superior muscle and transversus nuchae have been reported.
Auricularis posterior may be joined with occipitofrontalis, transversus nuchae, or platysma. Syn,: m. epicranius auricularis posticus, retrahentes auriculae
