Abstract

Il pene può presentare condizioni bifide e la duplicazione completa (difallo), con una frequenza riportata di 1 caso ogni 5,5 milioni di nascite; sono state descritte anche l'assenza congenita dell'organo e la presenza di un os penis.

Possono presentarsi condizioni bifide e la duplicazione completa (difallo). La difallia ha una frequenza riportata di 1/5,5 milioni di nascite (US Public Health Service) (Cernach)

L'assenza congenita del pene ha una frequenza di 1/30.000.000 (documentazione non disponibile).

È stato riportato un os penis.

Il primo caso riportato di pene doppio fu riscontrato su un cadavere, a Bologna, nel 1609 da Wecker. Fu riferito come segue: Observatio. Pene gemino visus quidam. Vidimvs Bononia in publicis dissectionibus cadauer viri qui duplicem habuit penem. Cl. v. Ioannes Iacobus Weckerus in Suis mthi communicatis Obseruationibus. Il primo caso americano fu fornito da Van Buren e Keyes nel 1874. Bruni (1926) rivide 15 casi e ne aggiunse uno proprio, per un totale di 16 casi, che discusse in dettaglio. Ulteriori casi di McLennan, di Kimura, di Seth e Peacock e di altri portarono il totale a 29 casi reperiti nella letteratura medica entro il 1932.
